An unconscious that, in being real, cannot be deciphered and by which we choose to be duped.

In contemporary discourse, the scientific definition of the real takes precedence. But if science imposes the dictature of its criteria – if it's scientific, it's true–, it does have an ever harder time defining what its veritable real is. Lacanian psychoanalysis is an attempt at giving a definition of the real that pertains to this current openning, in a post-Cartesien chaos, that is the question of the truth. It is the singular real that each subject produces in an analysis. To get at it using the coordinates of the analytic discourse assumes « exploiting the misunderstanding to catch some bits of it». Identifying these bits of the real would be the key objective of an analysis. To the point where « an unconscious, that in being real, cannot be deciphered and by which we choose to be duped».
