It's only in aiming at the knot of the symptom– RSI, ISR, SIR – that we get at the real.

Lilia Mahjoub underscores that if the real seems to have become the keyword that orients psychoanalysis, the three dimensions of the world that are the real, the symbolic and the imaginary are of an equivalent importance. Paradoxically, it is only the way they are tied together that allows us to distinguish them. So then, it's only by aiming at the knot of the symptom that we get at the real. Psychoanalysis is renewing itself at the dawn of the 21st century – a discourse that is always to be begun again – in order to catch what is missed over and again, and to allow those who address it, not to substitute a « perfect win » for the miss, but to miss in the best possible manner.
