The discourse of science, making use of the numerical One rather than of the unifying One, has produced an overwhelming disjunction between the One of power and the knowledge. Its technical applications introduce into our world some new objects, which, put into circulation on a large scale by capitalism, become true symptoms for each and everyone. However, if these objects tend to make believe an entirely visible and transparent universe, psychoanalysis shows that this representable is not in any case of the order of the real.
